Two Massive Weekends of Riding January 29, 2013

It’s awesome. The Tweed Valley is hosting two consecutive huge weekends of MTB action for 2013. Some of the best UK events of the year are happening here, and all in the space of just nine days. A top class enduro, dual slalom, trail and XC racing, a free epic across the hills… oh, and the best downhillers on the planet are coming too. More here…

TweedLove Mega Weekend No 1

First up on 25 & 26 May it’s the POC King and Queen of the Hill, enduro with a capacity field of entrants shredding the forests, followed by Natural Tweed on (Bank Holiday!) Monday 27 May. This is a FREE event with riders (150 last year) enjoying 50k or so of natural trails all around the valley at their own pace – it’s a cracking, friendly and non-competitive ride, perfect to compliment the open throttle wide-eyed trail blasting of the previous two days.

TweedLove Monster Weekend No2

The weekend of 31 May to 2 June is going to be one of the biggest weekends in UK mountain biking in 2013. Here’s the lowdown:

FRIDAY 31 MAY

Sweet Protection TweedLove Dual Slalom
Glentress hosts a huge festival afternoon and evening of dual slalom racing like never before. Expect some big names, big tunes on the PA, a BBQ and an awesome night of bike life.

SUNDAY 1 JUNE

Glentress Seven
In three years it has become one of the country’s biggest and best-loved trail/XC races for solos and teams of two or three. A seven hour trailfest with a friendly festival atmosphere and most important – a superb race course featuring some prime Glentress trail and many sections of natural dirt which are opened specially for the day. It’s all about the riding!

SUNDAY 2 JUNE

BDS Downhill and more
As well as a ton of fun bike racing and events for families (both kids and adults) in Peebles, Innerleithen is hosting a major round of the British Downhill Series this weekend, with race day on Sunday. It’s a week before the opening UCI World Cup DH of the season in Fort William, and many of the biggest names in pro DH racing are lined up to shred Inners as a warm up for the Fort. Expect Gwin, Peaty et al riding the valley in a way you won’t see often – free for spectators.

Touro Sweet Tarmac January 29, 2013

TweedLove folk are also helping out with one of the country’s best road sportives – 112km of beautiful, and very quiet Borders tarmac. Check out the promo video below and all the details on the ‘Touro’ site.

We’ve just put up this year’s Natural Tweed route map, so you can download the map and description for an ‘out-there’ XC experience. It’s a great route, and feels quite remote at times, well worth investigating.
