The Tweed Valley is easily reached from all over the UK and a short transfer from airports and train stations. Frequent transfers from Edinburgh, with trailer for bikes, available from BikeBusGlentress.co.uk or Go-Where.co.uk offer transport services all over the area. Standard scheduled bus services in the area are provided by First Group.
If you are arriving by car the main roads into the Tweed Valley are the A7 and A701 from the South and the A701 from the North. And if you’re arriving by air you will probably arrive via Newcastle or Edinburgh Airport.
The closest stations are Edinburgh Waverly Station, Carlisle Railway Station or Berwick-upon-Tweed Railway Station. Check Travelline Scotland for dedicated bus connections.
Share car transport whenever you can – there’s a very useful car-sharing website at www.tripshareborders.com
You can hire bikes from Alpine Bikes at Glentress or Innerleithen. Please check out alpinebikes.com for more info and to book.
Obviously, the Tweed Valley is somewhere any bike rider would be barking mad not to want to stay for a while, and what good fortune, there are tons of great places around. Many of the local accommodation providers are specialist cycling accom providers, so they can tuck your bike up safely too.
Best place to start is on our accommodation page (above!) and also check out www.visittweedvalley.co.uk
