Donation to Ukrainian refugees

Please help us support the Ukrainian refugees who have just arrived in the Tweed Valley and Scottish Borders.

As of today, we’ll be donating £2 from every entry purchased for one of our events to provide support, and will be asking everyone who can to make a small additional donation too. We’ve been raising money all year for Tweed Valley Trails Association, but for the time being all our support will be directed towards a group of people in desperate need of support and help.

TweedLove will be supporting the Peeblesshire Food Bank’s work in supplying and purchasing essentials for the recently-arrived Ukrainians, many of whom have been able to bring almost nothing with them. The Foodbank is organising the urgent provision of everything from nappies and toiletries to waterproofs and shoes, including items for a significant number of young children arriving here with their mothers.

TweedLove is asking everyone in our community of bike riders and friends of the Tweed Valley to contribute if they can.

Money from ticket sales will be forwarded directly to the Foodbank’s Refugee campaign fund. There’s an additional donation option on the entry form or you can donate directly – see below.

Statement from the Foodbank:

The Peeblesshire Foodbank SCIO provides three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced food for people in crisis.  We are leading the community response to the arrival of refugees from Ukraine, mostly women and children who have fled with only a few belongings.  We are providing everything from nappies and baby food to shoes and waterproof jackets, and we are also running summer schools for the children, providing stationery and craft supplies. We are so grateful to Hillside Outside for their generous pledge to help our small charity cope with the influx of desperate people –  every donation will make a real difference.
