Yes, we can!

How the Covid regulations affect our outdoor events.

We hope you’re all doing well, staying safe and getting out on the bike. We’re so excited to be back making events happen, but with all the Covid-related info out there, we thought we’d send out a quick overview of how the guidelines and restrictions apply to our events.

We are currently at Level 2 in the Scottish Borders, and everyone in Scotland is free to attend our events apart from people living in Glasgow City which is Level 3. There are also certain areas of England with travel restrictions in place.

Current Covid Rules in Scotland

In Level 2, outdoor, non-contact, sports activities like ours can have a maximum of 500 with bubbles or waves of up to 50.

If the country goes into Level 1 in early June as we hope, we can have up to 1000 attendees and waves/bubbles of 100.

Level 0, which is projected to arrive at the end of June, allows waves of 500 with no daily limit to participation.

With these rules in mind, here’s the situation for our various confirmed events:

Saturday 12 June: Chain Reaction Cycles Gritopia Off road gravel adventure

Sunday 13 June: Cycle Law Scotland Skinny Tweed powered by Chain Reaction Cycles road sportive

Though there is a good possibility of Level 1 status being introduced before these events we are not counting any chickens, and will adhere strictly to Level 2 guidelines. All riders will be instructed on our Covid protocols in advance, and expected to comply with these – it’s nothing drastic, just common sense.

Both these events have only a few free places left, so entries are still open.

Saturday 19 June: Pirelli Glentress Seven MTB endurance race

We are currently at Level 2 capacity for the GT7 and this race has a significant waiting list. As soon as we have confirmation that we’re going to Level 1 we’ll release additional places, and everyone currently on the waiting list will be offered a place in the race. There is a nominal date of June 7 for Scot Gov moving to Level 1 but this is by no means certain.

So for the time being you can join the waiting list but no guaranteed places are available.

Covid protocols will be in place and the event will have several differences from previous years, but again, nothing drastic.

Sunday 20 June: Frog Bikes Short Circuit

This is a reasonably limited capacity event which will fall well within Level 2 guidelines. Appropriate Covid protocols will be in place.
