Tour O The Borders 2025

Tour O The Borders 2025

After fantastic feedback about the new 2023 route, we’re delighted to be using the same route for 2025.

After a year off, our closed road sportive, Tour O The Borders, will be back on Sunday 7 September 2025 to ride the fantastic 2023 routes again. The long course will take in the Devil’s Beeftub, Moffat Dale, Grey Mare’s Tail and some of the best road cycling in the south of Scotland, all on traffic free roads. The 88km Challenge route will still feature the classic Talla climb and Megget road as the centrepiece.

With mile after mile of spectacular scenery, on some of the best road cycling terrain in Scotland, it’s a genuinely wonderful day out on the bike.

Choose between:

The Full Route – 120km
The Challenge Route – 88km

You can change route from full to challenge, and vice versa, at any point before the event – and you can even change whilst on course. We will provide more information about this in due course.

Our aim is to provide the best value-for-money closed road sportive in the country, and it’s 100% organised by local riders.

“Having done just about every sportive in Scotland over the years, there’s nothing close to topping this one. I honestly can’t think of any way it could be better. Absolutely 10/10 from me. Touro 2021 Participant

“For me this route will stand out as being one of the best all-round rides I have done in the UK. The climbing was not unduly challenging, the scenery stunning and the descents memorable. Its a masterpiece of route planning.” – Cycling Active Magazine

So, what do you get for your money?

  • A fantastic closed road ride including some of the UK’s best cycling country and awesome scenery**
  • Great feed stations on the route with a variety of locally-made treats, including cakes and the world famous macaroni pies from Forsyths of Peebles
  • The best electronic chip timing system, rider times texted to you soon after finish
  • Official souvenir medal for all finishers
  • Buzzing event village
  • Mechanical support before and during the event
  • Comprehensive first aid and safety provision around the course
  • Water and toilet stops where you’ll most likely need them (we’re riders too!)
  • A sweeper vehicle and tech/service support on course

**As organisers and riders we understand and respect the inconvenience that closed road cycling events can bring, so we really appreciate the patience of local communities. We’re currently working with local authorities, the affected communities around the course and traffic management professionals on the closed road arrangements.

As a result we’re proposing a neutralised section in Moffat town centre, the potential for agricultural and local service vehicles to operate around the Megget and Talla route (short course only), and traffic management measures on a final section of the route east of Peebles.

Adaptive riders

Any and all accessible bikes are welcome at this event, whether you’re assisted (legally!) by motor, by manual hand power or otherwise.  If you have any questions, please email info@tourotheborders.com. We aim to accommodate any additional requirements where possible.
