How are you spending your time at the moment and staying active?

I’m trying to ride or run before breakfast then it’s full time mum mixed in with some gardening  or time on Macride most mornings.

Then when Toby sleeps in the afternoon I get some work done, keeping in touch with Trek Factory racing team athletes across the globe as they try and plan and train in this tricky time. Its t then more garden time whenToby wakes until dinner and Toby bed time ! Im trying to grow veg and doing so many outside tidying up jobs that would never normally have happened.

What are you most looking forward to when life can return to normal?

I was looking forward to racing my bike again and also meeting up with all the friends we have spread out all over the place. I look forward to going swimming again with Toby too.

What is your message to the world at this time?

Be patient and try and appreciate the small things in life, enjoy the fact that we can still get outside for some exercise, cherish that time and in some way try and enjoy the time where the world has slowed down a little and the crazy conveyor belt of life has been paused for a short while. I hope we can all think about what’s important to us and maybe all that international travel, fast food and constant life on the run isn’t actually what we need in our lives when things return to normal…keep it simple and enjoy time with those closest to you.. and most of all be thankful and grateful for all those who lives have just got busier working in our NHS and supermarkets 🙂

How are you spending your time at the moment and staying active?

I’m in a slightly reverse situation at the moment as I had surgery at the beginning of March was meant two weeks off the bike, so I’m just back training steady this week. My recovery process is allowing me to make small goals and focus day to day on the details. I’m alternating between a ride and yoga, or a turbo and run day – at least at the moment whilst we can still exercise outwith the house. Between these sessions, I’m spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Being able to take time over all my meals is nice! We also got a puppy, who between pooping in every room and getting her paws caught in wash baskets, is keeping us pretty busy!

What are you most looking forward to when life can return to normal?

Racing, of course! My life is normally split into two or three weeks at a time, either on a race trip or home for a breather, so having no movement for the next while feels weird and at times quite hard. Normally every day and every weekend brings something new for me and I miss that stimulation a lot.

What is your message to the world at this time?

The situation we’re currently in has all happened incredibly quickly, and I realise that it takes everybody their own time to adjust to and accept what will be a temporary way of life. If nothing else, now is a time to find joy and beauty in things that go unnoticed in or regular, fast paced lives. I think there is an opportunity to change perceptions on what and who we value, not just in our own personal lives but across the country and worldwide, and a chance to grow and move forward as better, happy, healthier people. If we can all be kind to ourselves and give ourselves some love whilst being responsible for friends and strangers, we can do so much good.

How are you spending your time at the moment and staying active?

It’s a really strange time for everyone at the moment and as sports people it is really strange to keep training when our season looks like its going to be non existent. We have, however, started to film short workout videos, along with Chloe Taylor from CT Performance Coaching. It’s been fun to do something different and its a new challenge!

What are you most looking forward to when life can return to normal?

Racing of course! And will be nice to be able to ride in groups again.

What is your message to the world at this time?

Stay safe, follow the government guidelines, don’t do anything wild on your bike just now, stay home and while you’re there… Subscribe to Gowaan Gals Youtube for regular workout videos, challenges, entertainment! Enjoy!
