Womens Swift Trails Transcend Social Ride

Womens Swift Trails Transcend Social Ride

Last year we had a fantastic number of folk attend the Swift Trails TweedLove social ride and we are delighted that Swift Trails are hosting another ride for the Transcend Bike Festival on Wednesday 29 May.

This years social ride climbs through Cardrona Forest before emerging onto open moorland at the top of Beards Hill from where you are rewarded with stunning views over Traquair and the Tweed Valley below. Drop down into the Glen Estate on a fantastic stretch of grassy single-track that descends over Orchard Rig. We return by road past the historic Traquair House before heading back into the forest for a final few kilometres on woodland trails back to the carpark.

This year maps will be available so folk can ride in smaller groups and at their own pace – Lucy from Swift Trails will be the sweeper to ensure no one gets lost or left behind in the forest!

Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Start time: 7:00pm

Finish: 9:00pm

Where: meet at the Forestry Commission carpark at Cardrona on the B7062 Peebles to Traquair road (pay & display)

Distance: 18km

Technical: This is not a technical ride but the biking is a bit rough on the moorland section that drops down over Orchard Rig

Fitness: A good level of fitness is required

This is a social ride and everyone is expected to be responsible for their own safety.

Please make sure your bike is in good condition and safe to ride  – you do not want to be stuck up on the hill at night with a mechanical!

Don’t forget…

  • A spare inner tube
  • A chain link
  • Snacks and water
  • Additional layer of warm clothing
  • Waterproofs – check the forecast
  • Night light
