Want to be a TweedLover?
As well as doing this for fun, there’s a more serious side to TweedLove, and we’ve just set ourselves up as an official voluntary organisation called TweedLove Trails. Here’s what our constitution says:
‘TweedLove Trails is a voluntary organisation of local people in the Tweed Valley, working to promote cycling and mountain biking in the area. It is a non-profit-distributing voluntary association which aims to:
a) Promote the Tweed Valley as the best bike-riding destination in the UK.
b) Promote cycling-related tourism as social enterprise and a major part of Tweed Valley life.
c) Further establish and encourage the community’s unique ‘bike-centric’ identity.
d) Actively increase the number, quality and waymarking of mountain bike trails, and road cycling routes in the area.
e) Encourage more people to take part in cycling.
f) Create a festival of events which showcases all of the above.
g) Create a headline, high quality mountain bike event for the festival, which reflects the values, attitude, fun, sport and excitement of mtb riding in the valley.
h) Create an effective organisation which can continue to carry out all of the above.’
We’re just getting started on this, but if you’d like more info on how you can be part of the movement, please drop us a line at [email protected]/onthehillside2. The bigger the group of supporters we have, the more we can all do.
