Despite some Richter scale snoring, the 2012 inaugural TweedLove Bivvy night was a great success. It was quite cold at times too, but everyone lived to tell the tales.

This year we’re venturing further afield, on a route which will provide a big riding adventure, some high hills and an impressive distance to cover. And we’ll even pass by a pub.

The idea’s simple. We’ll collect you from Peebles and drive you down the road to the start (not an inconsiderable distance). Then we’ll all pedal up into the hills, find a nice spot to bed down for the night, and the next day we’ll complete the trip back to Peebles via some great trails.

You have to carry your own supplies and overnight equipment. Ah, the simple life.

Numbers will be limited, and we’ll try to help sort out kit sharing (eg we don’t want everyone to bring their own stove), but everyone will need to have (and carry!) their own bivvy bag etc. and know roughly what they are doing.

We’re sorting out the route and suggestions for somewhere to stop, but we won’t tuck you in, read you a story or bring you supper – you need to be self-sufficient for this one!

This is not officially a guided trip, so it’s free to come along, but we’ll take a deposit in case you don’t turn up and we are hiring transport to get out to the start, so there’s a charge for this.

Places are very limited –so enter now.

Everyone is expected to treat the land (and hence landowners) with respect. We’ll leave no trace and everyone will carry everything they need in and out.
